Darkness shifts, then a bright light explodes to cause temporary blindness. The rusty coloured pelt of the she-cat blazes to fire, based with ash, as she looks into this odd light. Green eyes glow as she sees her ancestors, but not that of MoonClan. Who are they? Why are they here? Those questions she could not answer, for in the seconds it happened, the bright glow of cats disappeared. MoonClan, what had they wanted from Flamepool? Why was she so important? Or did it mean anything at all?
Flamepool woke from her dream. Was that all it was, a dream? Yes, just an odd one. It was definitely not from MoonClan, so no meaning lied in it. She only got up, stretching. Pads moving slowly from the rock cleft she slept in, she found her way to the clearing and lay on her side, soaking in the green-leaf sun. She had recently grown lazy because of it, muscle growing slowly less. That didn't mean she wasn't fierce and determined, just capable of enjoying herself. So as she let the sun soak into her flame and silver pelt, she opened a green eye, examining the fresh kill pile. A few pieces of prey lay there, but nothing she was craving. Oh well.
Flamepool slowly drifted back to her dream. It was so bright! Maybe a shaft of light had come to invade her dream? Yes that had to be it, for MoonClan ran in the darkness of the moon and the nighttime sky, were the only light was of glowing moss and the moons ground, surrounded by thousands of trees. So how could light get into that to make her Dark Ancestors glow as if stars? Well it was rumored that the evil StarClan shared borders with MoonClan, so maybe she strayed to close to the border? She would never know, so why care.
With a slight yawn, Flamepool finally mustered the energy to stand, leaning forward in a long lived stretch. She glanced around the clearing to see all were still asleep before heading for the camp entrance. Might as well go find herbs, or a black bird. Either would help, and she was running low on mallow and watermint anyways. So with that she headed for the shoreline, sniffing out the needed herbs and leaving them in a pile. Her eyes flashed over the shore, then shifted to the DreadClan side of the Territory. Why was she so drawn? She did not know, and chose to ignore it, instead sitting to watch the calm lake.
Flamepool would have headed back to camp, but something about the lake mesmerized her. Like there was something there, pulling at her, commanding her to learn of a deep knowledge no other cat knows. But what? Nothing was there but herbs, plants, and the lake itself. Ugh, she was asking herself too many questions. But medicine cats do that, helping themselves learn through trial and error, as well as the teachings of MoonClan.
